In a touching farewell, Riyadh bid goodbye to one of its loyal sons, citizen Uthman al-Mughamis, who passed away this morning at the age of 78, leaving behind a rich legacy of service and dedication in the fields of national work.

Al-Mughamis was born in the Shumaisi neighborhood of Riyadh in 1946. His life was marked by a journey full of achievements in both education and career. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from King Saud University in 1970, after which he began his professional career at the Ministry of Transport, where he held several leadership positions until his retirement in 2006.

During his professional career, al-Mughamis oversaw the implementation of many vital projects in the Kingdom, most notably:

– The network of main intercity highways
– King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh
– Many bridges and tunnels in the capital

In a statement to “Al-Riyadh Newspaper,” Engineer Ahmed Al-Zamil, al-Mughamis’ colleague at work, said: “Uthman was a role model in sincerity and dedication to work. He succeeded in turning challenges into opportunities and contributed significantly to the development of the Kingdom’s infrastructure.”

Al-Mughamis’ contributions were not limited to the professional field only, but he was also an active member in social and charitable work. He held the position of President of the Riyadh Charity Association for 12 years, during which he contributed to expanding the scope of its services to include more than 50,000 beneficiaries annually.

In a speech during a ceremony honoring al-Mughamis in 2018, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, then Governor of the Riyadh region, said: “The journey of Uthman al-Mughamis embodies the values of good citizenship and unlimited giving. He has been a role model in serving the nation and society.”

It is worth noting that al-Mughamis received many awards and honors in appreciation of his efforts, most notably:

– King Abdulaziz Order of the First Class in 2012
– The State Appreciation Award in the field of humanitarian services in 2015

At the conclusion of a journey full of giving, the deceased’s body will be buried today after the Asr prayer at Al-Rajhi Mosque in Riyadh, leaving behind a legacy that will remain immortal in the memory of the nation.

Saudi citizen Aida Al-Sweilim, 68, recalled memories of driving a car about half a century ago, following the decision to allow Saudi women to drive.

Al-Sweilim posted a video on her official Twitter account, showing her driving her car on the streets of Riyadh, announcing her return to driving after a 47-year ban.

She expressed great happiness with this historic step, stressing that she highly appreciates the great support that Saudi women receive from the leadership of the Kingdom in various fields.

The video clip received wide interaction on social media, as tweeters praised the decision to allow women to drive, considering it an important step towards more progress and development in the Kingdom.

It is worth noting that the decision to allow Saudi women to drive came into effect in June 2018, after years of demands to lift this ban.

The first half of the final match between Al-Ahly and Al-Hilal, held at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, concluded with exciting events witnessed by over 60,000 spectators.

The match began with intense offensive pressure from Al-Hilal, as their player Mohammed Al-Shehri scored the first goal in the 15th minute following a decisive pass from Salem Al-Dawsari. Statistics indicate Al-Hilal’s dominance over the course of the game, with a 62% ball possession rate compared to 38% for Al-Ahly. Additionally, Al-Hilal’s players took 8 shots on goal, compared to 3 for Al-Ahly.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates today the Founding Day of the Kingdom, which falls on the 17th of Jumada al-Awwal each Hijri year, commemorating the founding of the first Saudi state in 1727 AD by Imam Muhammad bin Saud bin Muhammad bin Muqrin.

In this context, Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud said: “The Founding Day is a great national occasion in which we recall our ancient history and authentic values upon which the Saudi state was founded three centuries ago.”

He added: “We celebrate this occasion to reinforce the values of moderation, tolerance and altruism that characterized the founder and his loyal men, values which we still uphold to this day.”

On January 27, 2022, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a royal decree making February 22 of each year “Founding Day,” an official holiday in the Kingdom.

Various events and activities are planned across the Kingdom, including artistic, cultural and heritage performances, as well as fireworks displays in the capital Riyadh and other major Saudi cities.

The celebration of “Founding Day” coincides with the 300th anniversary of the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in mid-1727 AD, which formed the nucleus for unifying parts of the Arabian Peninsula under the banner of monotheism and the Saudi state we live in today.

وتشير الإحصائيات إلى ارتفاع معدلات النمو الاقتصادي في السعودية منذ تولي الأمير محمد بن سعود منصبه، حيث بلغ معدل النمو 3.6% عام 2022 مقارنة بـ 2.2% عام 2019.
كما شهدت السعودية توسعاً كبيراً في مشاريع البنية التحتية الضخمة، مثل مدينة نيوم الذكية ومشروع البحر الأحمر السياحي، باستثمارات تتجاوز 500 مليار دولار.
وفي مجال التعليم، ارتفع عدد الجامعات السعودية إلى 34 جامعة حكومية و19 جامعة أهلية، مقارنة بـ 21 جامعة حكومية فقط قبل عقد من الزمن.
واختتم الأمير محمد بن سعود قائلاً: “نسعى لأن تكون السعودية نموذجاً عالمياً رائداً في التنمية المستدامة والتنوع الاقتصادي. طموحنا كبير وعزيمتنا أكبر.”
وبهذه الرؤية الطموحة والإصلاحات الشاملة، يمضي الأمير محمد بن سعود قدماً في تحقيق نهضة شاملة للسعودية، تجعلها في مصاف الدول المتقدمة.

حقق نادي الهلال فوزاً مثيراً على غريمه التقليدي نادي الاتحاد بهدفين مقابل هدف واحد، في المباراة التي جمعتهما مساء الأربعاء ضمن منافسات الجولة الثامنة عشر من دوري كأس الأمير محمد بن سلمان للمحترفين.
وكان النمور الاتحادية قد باغتت الزعيم بهدف مبكر عبر نجمها البرازيلي رومارينيو في الدقيقة 12، لكن الهلال نجح في قلب الطاولة في الشوط الثاني بهدفي سالم الدوسري وعبد الله عطيف في الدقيقتين 58 و78.

وبهذا الفوز رفع الهلال رصيده إلى 44 نقطة في صدارة الترتيب، بفارق 8 نقاط عن أقرب منافسيه، بينما تجمد رصيد الاتحاد عند 28 نقطة في المركز الخامس.
وشهدت المباراة حضوراً جماهيرياً كبيراً في ملعب الجوهرة المشعة، حيث تفاعلت جماهير الفريقين بحماس طوال اللقاء المثير.
