Today, Saudis celebrate the Founding Day, which falls on February 22nd every year, commemorating the establishment of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727 AD.
This year’s celebrations come under the slogan “The Day We Started,” where various regions of the Kingdom witness diverse national events expressing pride in the deep-rooted origins and the strong bond between leadership and people.
His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, affirmed in a speech on this occasion that “Founding Day is a dear occasion to all of us, in which we recall the beginnings of the first Saudi state and the great achievements made in various fields.”
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince, said: “Founding Day is a day of pride for all of us, from which we draw inspiration from the values of moderation, tolerance, and tolerance upon which the Saudi state was founded three centuries ago.”
The celebrations witness the organization of many heritage, cultural, and entertainment events, in addition to air shows by the Royal Saudi Air Force and fireworks displays in the sky of the capital, Riyadh, and several Saudi cities.
The museums and historical sites in the Kingdom also witness a large turnout of visitors wishing to learn about the history of the Saudi state and its ancient civilization.
This year’s celebrations come amid the exceptional circumstances the country is going through due to the Corona pandemic, where all precautionary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of citizens and residents participating in the events.
The Saudi Cabinet had issued a decision in 2022 to make February 22nd of each year an official holiday for all workers in the public and private sectors, commemorating the establishment of the first Saudi state.
“Founding Day” represents an opportunity to renew the covenant with the values of unity, loyalty, and belonging to the homeland, and to draw lessons and lessons from the Kingdom’s ancient history, and to look forward to a bright future for the Kingdom under its wise leadership.
The celebrations also come as a confirmation of the comprehensive renaissance the Kingdom is witnessing in various fields within Vision 2030, which aims to achieve a qualitative leap in the path of development and prosperity.
