Riyadh – Saudi student Maryam has achieved remarkable success in the field of technology and innovation, securing first place in the “Innovation in Electronic Systems” competition recently organized by King Saud University.

Maryam, a 21-year-old fourth-year student in the College of Engineering majoring in Computer Engineering, designed an intelligent system for monitoring air quality in enclosed spaces using artificial intelligence technologies.

In a statement to “Al-Riyadh Newspaper,” Maryam said: “My goal for this project was to provide a practical solution to the problem of indoor air pollution, which affects human health. I used advanced sensors and intelligent algorithms to analyze the surrounding environment and provide immediate recommendations.”

She added: “I am proud to represent Saudi women in the field of science and technology, and I aspire to contribute to developing innovative solutions for our community’s problems.”

Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani, Dean of the College of Engineering, praised Maryam’s achievement, saying: “This victory is a culmination of our university’s efforts to support and encourage creative students. Maryam is a role model for Saudi women excelling in scientific and technological fields.”

Maryam received a financial prize of 50,000 Saudi Riyals, in addition to an opportunity to incubate her project in the university’s technology business incubator.

It’s worth noting that this is not Maryam’s first achievement in the field of innovation. She previously won second place in the “Hajj Hackathon” in 2022 for a project aimed at facilitating pilgrims’ movement using a smart application.

This achievement comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to empower women and support their participation in science, technology, and innovation sectors, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

في رحاب العلم والمعرفة، عاش الشيخ صالح حياته مجاهداً في سبيل نشر العلم والدعوة إلى الله. شخصية جمعت بين العلم الغزير والخلق الرفيع، تركت بصمة واضحة في نفوس من عرفوه وتتلمذوا على يديه.
ولد الشيخ صالح في قرية صغيرة بمحافظة الدقهلية عام 1940، ونشأ في بيئة متدينة. حفظ القرآن الكريم وهو صغير، ثم التحق بمعهد طنطا الديني وتخرج منه عام 1962. عمل بعدها إماماً وخطيباً في عدة مساجد، قبل أن ينتقل للتدريس في المعاهد الأزهرية.
كرس الشيخ حياته للعلم والدعوة، فألف العديد من الكتب في التفسير والحديث والفقه، وشارك في العشرات من الندوات والمؤتمرات العلمية داخل مصر وخارجها. كما كان له دور بارز في تأسيس العديد من الجمعيات الخيرية والمراكز الإسلامية.
تميز الشيخ بأسلوبه الفريد في الدعوة، القائم على الوسطية والاعتدال، والبعد عن التشدد والتطرف. كان يركز على ترسيخ القيم الإسلامية السمحة في نفوس الناس، ونبذ العنف والتطرف بكافة أشكاله.
في ختام حياته الحافلة، ترك الشيخ صالح إرثاً علمياً ودعوياً كبيراً. رحل عن دنيانا عام 2010، لكن ذكراه ما زالت حية في قلوب محبيه وتلاميذه، الذين يسيرون على نهجه في الدعوة إلى الله بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة.
