Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a royal decree appointing Prince Mohammed bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Governor of the Riyadh Region with the excellent rank, succeeding Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz.
Prince Mohammed bin Saud had served as Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region since 2017, where he demonstrated high efficiency in managing the affairs of the emirate and implementing development projects. He has also made prominent contributions to supporting both the government and private sectors in the region.
The Riyadh Region is one of the largest regions in the Kingdom in terms of area and population, with an area of approximately 380,000 square kilometers and a population of more than 8 million people according to the latest official statistics.
In a statement following the royal decree, Prince Mohammed bin Saud expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for this precious trust, affirming his keenness to exert his utmost effort to serve the people of the Riyadh Region and achieve their aspirations under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince – may God protect them.
The appointment of Prince Mohammed bin Saud as Governor of the Riyadh Region comes within the framework of the wise leadership’s keenness to entrust qualified national competencies with managing the affairs of the country, and to enhance the path of development and prosperity that the Kingdom is witnessing under Vision 2030.
